Investigation of haemodynamics by transcranial Doppler in patients with essential hypertension complicating with ischemic stroke

Objective To investigate the effects of blood pressure and age on the change of cerebral blood flow in the patients with essential hypertension complicating with ischemic stroke.Methods 258 hospitalization patients with ischemic stroke diagnosed by transcranial CT were divided into hypertension group and normal blood pressure group,hypertension group was subgrouped into old group and non-old group.Middle cerebral artery(MCA),anterior cerebral artery(ACA)and posterior cerebral artery(PCA)were detected by transcranial Doppler to record the average blood flow rate(Vm),blood vessel pulsatility index(PI) and resistance index(RI).Results Vm in ACA,MCA and QCA in old group were lower than those in non-old group(P0.05),but PI and RI were higher in old group than those in non-old group(P0.01).There was no significant difference in Vm, PI and RI between hypertension group and normal blood pressure group(P0.05).Conclusions Age was the main influential factor of the cerebral blood blow in hypertension with ischemic stroke but blood pressure was not.
