Abstract

Objective:To compare the clinic effects of corneal limbal atem cell transplantion and sim-ple pterygium excision plus mitomycin Con primary pterygium. Methods:Ninty eight patients(122eyes)were duviede into two groups randomly.Corneal sfem cell transplant group included 48patients(60eys),while comnon ptergium excision plus mito mycin C incluede 50patients(62eyes).Postoperative follw-up time was 1~2 years. Results: The average epithelial recovering time of corneal wound were 4.0±0.8 days(stem cell group)and 7.3±1.7 days(mitomycin C group) respectively. The differences of two groups were sig-nificant(t=14.08,P0.05).Two eyes reapsed in the stem cell transplant group(recurrence rate was 3.3%),and 14 eyes rslapsed in the mitomycin C group(recurrence rate was 22.58%),the differences was significant(χ2=9.91,P0.05).Conclusion: The corneal limbal stem cell tranplantion in an ideal surgical method on primary pterygium for the shorter time of recovering and lower rate of recurrence.
