Abstract
Objective To investigate the alterations of central macular retinal thickness in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus. Methods Retinal thickness were measured with optical coherence tomography(OCT)in 36 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 16 normal persons(normal control group),at the same time, retina of all patients were examined with ophtalmoscope.According to the degree of retinopathy,36 diabetic patients were divided into three groups: nomal retinopathy group(NR group)? Background retinopathy group(BR group)?proliferative retinopathy group(PR group). Results The central macular thickness of normal control group was(168±18)μm,The central macular thickness of diabetic patients was much higher than that of normal persons(P0.05 or P0.01),The central macular thickness of NR was(205±35)μm,of BR was(277±69)μm,of PR was(354±33)μm.Conclusion The central macular thickness in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus increased significantly with increase of the degree of retinopathy.
