Abstract
In order to obtain the synthetic polarization characteristic, the polarization state after the linearly polarized light getting across the double quarter wave plate is analyzed using Stokes vector and Muller matrix in theory. The result indicated that the different polarization state can be obtained by adjusting the angle between the first quarter wave plate and the linearly polarized light and the double quarter wave plate. That is to say,the emergent light may be linearly polarized light, circularly polarized light or elliptical polarized light. The state and the revolution property of the emergent light will be different while the angle is different. And the transition of polarization state can be realized through adjusting one angle of them.
