Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the effect of early application of Bifidobacterium tetravaccine tablets in preventing premature infants with necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC).Methods: One hundred and fifty cases of hospitalized premature infants from October 2006 to October 2008 were randomly divided into a preventive group(80 cases) and a control group(70 cases),with the preventive group having Bifidobacterium tetravaccine tablets 0.5 g every day in addition to the conventional treatment in the primary affection. The incidence of NEC during two weeks was observed. Results: The incidence of NEC in the control group was 7.14%(5/70),the preventive group's incidence was 3.74%(3/80).The difference had statistical significance(P0.05).Conclusions: Early application of Bifidobacterium tetravaccine tablets(live) in premature infants can reduce the incidence of NEC significantly.
