The Dialectical Aesthetics of Lao Zi

Lao Zi's profound aesthetic thoughts are special in the history of world aesthetics.His dialectical aesthetics appears original.This paper has analyzed Lao Zi's aesthetics thoughts in the following four aspects:beauty and goodness,beauty and truth,emptiness and reality,and force and grace.Lao Zi's beauty and goodness is founded on Taoism,different from the doctrines of Confucius.Lao Zi not only expounded on the differences between and the unity of the beauty and truth ,but also explained the transformation of the two,which showed dialectical aesthetics spirit and had enormous impact on the history of Chinese aesthetics.
