Abstract
Objective To observe the changes of skin ultrestructure after the use of skin stretch.?Methods? The skin tissue in test groups were harvested in the period of skin stretch operation, and skin tissues of both test group and control group were harvested in 1,2,3,4,6 and 8 weeks after the operation.?The changes of skin ultrastructure of both groups were observed under the transmission electron microscope, and compared with the normal skin.?Results The alterations of skin ultrastructure were found in two aspects.?In the epidermis, the intercellular space increased significantly and the basal cell shape shifted to column.?The mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum of both basic cell and fibroblast increased but the number of glycogen granules decreased.?In the dermis, the proliferation of mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum of fibroblast was significant, and the density of collagen fibers increased simultaneously at fourth week and decreased at sixth week.?At eighth week, these changes were still obviously marked as compared with the control group.?Although there was some productive anabolism both in basal cell and fibroblast, the changes in control group were feebler than those found in the test group.?Conclusion Skin stretch can induce the ultrastructure changes of the skin and stimulate the skin growth.
