Influence of Radicalism Upon Chinese Literature of 20th Century (I)

In early 20th century, different radical ideas were spread into China and left great influence on the development of Chinese literature. Being faced with domestic unrest and foreign invasion, Chinese literature shouldered a heavy burden, showed more utilitarian features to meet the needs of enlightenment and salvation; and the ideology at that time restricted the development of multi-literature. Instrumental literature theory weakened the self-satisfaction of literature, the mode of thoughts under the war environment affected the evaluation of literature, aesthetic requirements were neglected, came into being the assessment mode of linear thought so far as writers and works were concerned. Mono-standard assessment restricted the development of multi-literature and left an everlasting influence on Chinese literature of 20th century.
