The Effect of International Outsourcing on Labor Productivity:An Evidence from Guangdong Province's Industries

Abstract

This paper calculates the material outsourcing rate and service outsourcing rate of Guangdong province's 21 sectors by using 1997,2002 and 2007 input-output tables of Guangdong,and tests the effect of different forms of outsourcing on the labor productivity of Guangdong province by panel date model.The results show that material outsourcing and service outsourcing both have a positive effect on the labor productivity of Guangdong's industries,and the effect of service outsourcing is more obvious.The service outsourcing has a greater influence on capital-intensive industries than on labor-intensive industries,while the sector difference of material outsourcing is not so obvious.
