Part-Time Rice-Planting Farmers' Features of Technology Application——A Study Based on Survey Data from Jiangxi Province

The production behaviors of part-time rice-planting farmers play an important role in grain production in China.Promoting the application of agricultural technologies among them can significantly improve their production efficiency,foster economic development in rural areas and ensure grain safety.By means of empirical methods,this paper analyzed the part-time farmers' rice-planting features and their influencing factors based on the survey data from 11 rural areas in Jiangxi Province.The results show that the strongest required technologies are high-yield and labor-saving technologies.The role that large-scale rice farmers and sci-tech model households in the diffusion of technology has not been realized among rice farmers.Variables such as the ratio of rice-planting income to total income significantly affect the application of light and simple cultivation technique.The higher the ratio of rice-planting income to total income,the more willing farmers are to invest in technology with the expectation to increase income,while part-time farmers engaging in heavy construction can lessen their laboring burden through labor-saving technology.
