An Analysis on the Competitive Performance of the Top 8 Female Shot-putters during Beijing Olympic Games

The authors have studied the basic conditions,scores for the 3 shots before and during the final game and the rate of success regarding the top 8 female shot-put athletes participating in the 29th Beijing Olympic Games,and analyzed the features of competitive performance of the female shot put.The research will provide a theoretical reference for selection,training and competitions.The results show that the average height of the athletes is 183.4cm,average weight is 92kg and the average Quetelet index is 501.02,which means a reasonable characteristic of age and figure as the age period of 24~29 is normally the golden period for female shot-put athletes to show their best competitive strength.Approximately 96% of their average scores in qualification competition reach their personal best scores,and approximately 98% of their average scores in final competition reach their personal best scores.Scores in qualification competition and in final competition have shown polarization of their competitive ability performance,the best scores in shots during final competition are evenly distributed,and the rate of success in the first 3 shots is higher than that in the last three shots.
