Experience and Enlightment from Innovative Zoning in Promoting Affordable Housing in United States

Abstract

In order to satisfy mid and low-income families' needs for houses,innovative zoning aiming at promoting affordable housing came into being in US.The innovative zoning includes flexible zoning,incentive Zoning and inclusionary zoning and so on.They increase supply for affordable housing without little or no extra financial coast to local government,and reduce segregation by income.This paper introduces the innovative zoning's development process and practices,then analyses its positive features and challenges.
