Abstract
Objective To survey the effect of the flooded dump, Chengjiagang dump, on the water quality in the Songhua river, which is the source of water supply of Harbin city. Methods Water samples were collected from several section of the Songhua river, including the Harbin source of water supply, and the water in the submerged dump during the flood. Twenty-one kinds of pollutants index were detected with the national standard methods. Results The concentration of the 10 kinds of pollutants exceeded the value of national standard. The organic index were ammonia-nitrogen, volatile phenol, dissolved oxygen, nitrate-nitrogen. The metal pollutants were mercury, iron, manganese. The biological index was total bacteria and conform. The character istics of pollution were organic pollution, metal pollution and biological pollution. Conclusion The pollution in the submerged dump is more serious than that of the Songhua river. The water from the submerged dump pol lute the Songhua river.
