The Discovery of "Science"——Hu Shi's Interpretation of Academic History of Qing Dynasty

Since the Opium War,the intellectuals had to consider how to position in the social and cultural value system.Hu Shi discovered and extracted scientific spirit and scientific method in traditional Chinese culture.He pointed out that had been in an orthodox position in traditional Chinese culture,but because of the improper use of materials,it failed to produce the and technology as the western countries did.It maybe biased to say that it was Hu Shi that categorized science into Chinese academic history.However,it is reasonable to say that he helped promote the self-esteem and self-confidence of national culture.
