Abstract
Objecive To investigate the expression of β-catenin in various diseases and the function of gastric carcinogenesis and differentiation. Methods A total of 300 patients the expression of β-catenin proteins in the gastric mucosa were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The expression rates of β-catenin in the nucleus were significantly lower in CG and GA than in GC(P0.05).In GC cases, the expression rates of β-catenin were significantly higher in intestinal type than in diffuse type(P0.05).Conclusion The expression of β-catenin is progressively decreased following the process of GC tumorigenesis, with β-catenin expression being translocated from the cytoplasm to the nucleus.the expression of β-catenin in the cytoplasm and nucleus in patients with gastric cancer, especially the intestinal type.
