Abstract
This paper examines the idea and practice of novel writing of Liang Qichao, whose novels ushered in a new era of modern fiction in China, linking the past and the present. His works, a mixture of different styles, provides an expression of the public opinions and the national qualities of the people, exerting an influence on the concept and production of novels in the 20th century.
