Abstract

The Century Bridge in Tongzhou is a cable-stayed bridge with a titled arch-shape single pylon and with span arrangement 110 m(for the main span)+80 m(for the anchor span).The main girder of the bridge employs the π-shape ribbed plate structure.The pylon is the steel structure that is 63.6 m high and tilts 15° towards the anchor span.The stay cables are composed of Ф7 high-strength parallel steel wires and are arranged in spatial cable plane of fan type.The foundations for the main piers are of the bored piles on which the pile caps are arranged in shape of dumbbell.The program MIDAS Civil 2010 was used to set up the finite element model for the whole bridge of the main bridge and to calculate and analyze the global structure of the bridge.The program ANSYS was then used to set up the model and to analyze the local stress of anchoring of the stay cables in the pylon,the force conditions of the connection part between the steel pylon and its concrete base and the force conditions of the middle cross beam at the connection part between the pylon and the girder.The results of the analysis verify that all indices of the bridge can satisfy the relevant requirements in the codes and have certain safety margin.
