Abstract

Objective:To study the clinical significance of prostate acid phosphatase(PAP) in prostate hyperplasia and prostate cancer Methods: An inhibiting method have been established by using L Tartrate and dry chemistry The changes of serum total acid phosphatase (ACP), PAP and free prostate specific antigen(F PSA) of 20 normal person, 22 prostate hyperplasia and 28 prostate cancer patient have been studied by using the established inhibiting method Results: Serum PAP activity and F PSA were higher in prostate cancer than in normal person and prostate hyperplasia ( P 0 01) The significance decrease of PAP and F PSA had been found after therapy in prostate cancer patients But there are no obvious difference between normal person and prostate hyperplasia ( P 0 05) Conclusions:The method to measuring serum PAP activity is stable and easy to operate It is suitable for clinical laboratory and also a useful tumor marker to help the diagnosis and following up the therapy of prostate cancer
