Internet Addiction Disorder and Personality Factors Among Middle School Students in Lanzhou City

Objective To learn about the status of Internet addiction disorder(IAD)among middle school students in Lanzhou city,to explore the influencing factors and characteristic of personality of IAD,and to provide a scientific reference for the intervention and treatment of IAD.Methods According to the cluster random stratified sample method,2 108 students were randomly selected from seven different junior and senior middle schools in Lanzhou.They were investigated with the self-made questionnaire,Internet Addiction Questionnaire,EPQ and 16 PF.The results were analyzed by using SPSS 11.5.Results Approximately 5.5% of the total in the investigation were defined as IAD.The prevalence of boys was higher than girls.IAD related to the gender,charge and time spent online,place of using internet and the characteristic of personality.Conclusion Many factors lead to Internet addiction disorder and have definite fundament of the personality.Early intervention and therapy should be taken to IAD.
