An Analysis of the Transformation Process of Chinese Love Poems in the Transitional Period from the Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty and its Historical Causes

With a focus on the three types of Chinese love poems,this paper gives a thorough analysis of the transformation process of such poems in the transitional period from the Tang dynasty to the Song dynasty.The paper concludes that the love poems in the late Tang dynasty emphasize images,psychology and the vivid description of the activities and mentality of lovers,while the love poems of the North Song dynasty reveal strong emotions with a touch of some trivial things in love affairs.The crucial cause of such transformation process is the bureaucratization of the intellectuals and its direct cause is the division between poetry and Ci.
