Abstract

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and treatment for liver metastasis of colorectal cancer and their prognosis. Methods From January 1991 to January 2006,113 patients with liver metastasis of colorectal cancer were analyzed retrospectively. Results The overall 1-,3- and 5-year survival rate was 91.6%,34.3% and 23.1%,respectively.Survival rate was significantly higher in patients with synchronal metastasis than in patients with heterochronia metastasis(P0.01),and higher in patients with metastasis size of ≤5cm than in patients with metastasis size of 5cm(P0.05),and higher in patients accepting systemic chemotherapy than in those merely accepting regional chemotherapy(P0.05).There was no significant difference between onstage operation and two-stage operation. Conclusion Operation is the optimal treatment to patients with metastasis of colorectal cancer and the neoadjuvant chemotherapy has been a part of the preparation before surgery.
