Abstract

Unconformity below Cretaceous formation resulting from main act of Yanshanian movement generally develops in the centre of Junggar Basin. At present, oil and gas reservoirs found in the centre of Junggar Basin are stratigraphic-lithological reservoirs. This paper discusses the controlling effect of unconformity on oil and gas by describing unconformity formation and structure, including: ①werthering resulting from unconformity effectively improves sandstone ’ s characters below the bottom of unconformity, ② unconformity forms several favorable reservoir-seal combinations, ③unconformity forms multi stratigraphic traps, ④the period forming unconformity is an important period for hydrocarbon accumulation and adjustment.
