Abstract
Isoamyl acetate could be synthesized by use the catalyst of p-toluenesulfonic acid supported on activated carbon under microwave radiation. The optimal reaction conditions were established in the experiments, involving the power of microwave radiation (150 W), amount of catalyst (1.4 g), molar ratio of alcohol to acid (1.2∶1) and reaction time (0.5 h). The yield of product could thus achieve 98.0%. Moreover, the esterification rate and the product yield under microwave radiation were found to be higher than that of conventional heating method.
