Urban social space innovation and its social capital significance: a study of urban public space based on civil society in Nanjing

The urban social space as a component of the city has the typical characteristics of social relationship and social capital. In different social cultural background, it displays its significance and symbol value. China is undergoing a fast urbanization period, urban social space structures change greatly, the traditional meaning and value has been replaced by the modern space functions and values. Meanwhile, the fast speed urbanization makes the mass-owned urban social space narrower and smaller. And because the competition in the urban society is ultimately the occupation on the urban social space, to take a new look of the social value and cultural significance becomes much important in urban public administration. This article has made a research from the urban social space characteristics and studied the value of urban social space. This will do much good to construct a new pattern of urban social space belonging to civil society.
