Abstract

Dilatancy is one of the most important characteristics of geotechnical materials. The stress-dilatancy model proposed by P. W. Rowe in 1962 was the theoretical foundation and research method about dilatancy of geotechnical materials. After deduction the stress-dilatancy relation for cohesive soil is obtained, which is proved by test study on normally consolidated saturated silty clays.
