A comparison of clinical characteristics of 273 cases of HBeAg-negative and HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of HBeAg-negative and HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B(CHB).Methods A total of 273 hospitalized CHB cases were analyzed retrospectively.The serum ALT values,HBV DNA levels and hepatic inflammation and fibrosis were analyzed by their serum HBeAg status.Results Compared with the HBeAg positive group,the HBeAg negative group were older and had lower HBV DNA levels,but the constituent ratios of chronic serious hepatitis,hepatic cirrhosis and hepatoma were higher.Conclusion The HBeAg-negative case ratio increased in recent years,and patients are aged and have bad prognosis,more emphasis should be put on HBeAg-negative case.
