Abstract

Cassia siamea Lamk.is a perennial multipurpose species, and widely distributed all over South-east Asia, and Yunnan,Guangdong, guangxi and Fujian of China.Water permeability of seed capsules is very bad, thus improving the water permeability can promote the germination of seeds. The seeds had been treated with different methods in the storage period. The results showed that the germination rate of fresh seeds was more than 95 %,and the germination rate decreased with the increase of storage time. The germination rate was 75 % after 3 months of storage, and the germination rate was about 30 % after 9 months of storage. The germination rate of light requirement treatment is more than that of non-light treatment, and the days of germination were shortened by 38.6 days. The seeds were separated, and soaked for 20 minutes in water of 80℃ and soaked for 15 minutes in 80 % H2SO4,being most favorable to breaking the seed dormancy, improving the seed germination rate and shortening the germination days.Especially the seeds soaked in 80% H2SO4 and the separated seeds would evidently shorten the germination days, decreasing by more than 120 days in comparison with the control group,so the seed soaked for 20 minutes in water of 80℃ or for 15 minutes in 80 % H2SO4 was most appropriate. It could effectively improve the germination rate and germination vigor, and shorten the germination days.
