Abstract
Objective:To investigate the prevalence and influential factors of dentine hypersensitivity in the small town of Guangdong province.Method:A multi-stage stratified random sampling method was used to select samples. The dentine hypersensitivity of all 800 cases were investigated with questionnaire and oral clinical examination. The prevalence, risk factors, age predilection, the correlation of gingival recession with dentine hypersensitivity were analysed.Result:309 people narrated by themselves that they had sensitive symptoms(38.6 %),128 people were diagnosed as dentine hypersensitivity by clinical examinations(27.2 %).The peak age incidence was 41~50 years,Cold was the most common stimulus and the first premolar was the most common affected tooth.80.3 % of the teeth with dentine hypersensitivity had gingival attachment loss. Conclusion:The prevalence of dentine hypersensitivity occurs in small town of Guangdong Province is widespread. The correct protective measure to dentine hypersensitivity should be publicized.
