Abstract
Objective To explore the prevalence of metabolism syndrome(MS) and its components in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS). Methods Body mass index(BMI),neck collar(NC),waist circumference(WC),blood pressure(BP),plasma glucose and lipid profiles were measured and analyzed in 28 controls and in 148 OSAHS patients(46 mild,35 moderate and 67 severe patients).Results (1) HDL-C was lower in severe OSAHS group than that in control group and mild OSAHS group(P0.05).FPG was higher in severe OSAHS group than that in control group(P0.05).SBP was higher in moderate and severe OSAHS groups than that in control group(P0.05).DBP was higher in severe OSAHS group than that in control group(P0.05).BMI and WC were significantly higher in severe OSAHS group than those in control group, mild and moderate OSAHS groups(P0.05~0.01).BMI and WC were significantly higher in moderate OSAHS group than those in control group(P0.05~0.01).WC was higher in mild OSAHS group than that in control group(P0.05).NC was higher in severe OSAHS group than that in control group and mild OSAHS group(P0.05).(2)The prevalence rates of obesity,hypertension and hyperglycemia were significantly different among the four groups,with a trend to gradually increase with the severity of OSAHS.(3)The prevalence rate of MS was significantly different among the four groups,with a trend to gradually increase with the severity of OSAHS. Conclusions There is a close correlation between OSAHS and MS,especially the severe OSAHS.The prevalence rates of obesity,hypertension,hyperglycemia and MS have a trend to gradually increase with the severity of OSAHS.
