Progress in research on relationship between maternal nutrition in pregnancy and fetal birth weight

There are many index to evaluate maternal nutrition in pregnancy.Howevor,each indice has its either advantages,or limitations.Fetal birth weight is associated with many factors.As to the relationship between maternal nutition in pregnancy and fetal birth weight,the results of researches at present remain controversial.Some researchers thought that there is not so strong association between maternal nutrition and fetal birth weight when maternal nutrition is sufficient.But this finding is obtained from fetuses with normal birth weight,maybe the different results are obtained from those fetuses with abnormal birth weight such as macrosomia(large-for-date infants).The relationship between maternal nutrition and fetal birth weight needs to be studied further.This article reviewed progress in research on the relationship between maternal nutrition and fetal birth weight.
