Breeding and Application of New Japonica Hybrid Rice Combination Xuyou 201 with Good Grain Quality and High Yield

Abstract

Xuyou 201(Xu 9320A/Xuhui 201) was a new japonica hybrid rice combination with high yield and good grain quality.It yielded 6.44% and 13.94% higher than the check hybrid 9 You 138 in the regional yield trials(two years) and the productional trial of Jiangsu Province,respectively.In largescale production,its yield level was about 9.5(t/hm~2).The grain quality of Xuyou 201 was up to the state standards of the 3~(rd) class fine quality rice.In addition,it had a good plant type,big panicles with many spikelets,a high seed-setting percentage,strong disease and lodging resistances,and a wide adaptability.It was registered and released in Jiangsu Province in January,2005.
