Abstract

Objective To investigate the prevalence and distribution of angiostrongyliasis in the mountain areas in Guangdong province;to provide a scientific basis for working out the effective control strategies of angiostrongyliasis in this area.Methods Gastropods collected in these areas were broken by homogenization,and the samples were allowed to precipitate at room temperature The dregs were smeared onto microscopic slides and observed under a microscope.Results Angiostrongylus cantonensis was found in Ampullarium crosseana Hidalgo,Achatina fulica and other snails,and the positive rates for these three types of snails were 13.21%(14/106),2.00%(2/100)and 1.43%(1/70),respectively.No worm was found in 10 Cipangoludina chinensis.Conclusion Ampullarium crosseana Hidalgo,Achatina fulica and river snails inhabiting in the mountain areas of Luoding city are the intermediate host of Angiostrongylus cantonensis.
