Abstract
Map B3 in Language Atlas of China points out that Tancheng Dialects and Pingyi Dialects belong to Zheng-Cao Dialects, a branch of ZhongYuan Mandarin that fall into the scope of North China(Ji-Lu)Mandarin. However, the findings of this study indicated that both dialects, in view of the agreement between them and the other dialects in the nearby and nonadjacent counties, are ZhongYuan Mandarin which do not have the attributes of North China(Ji-Lu)Mandarin. Therefore, there is no need to define them two independent speech islands in Language Atlas of China.
