A Study on Species Diversity in Castanopsis fargesii Natural Forest Community in Wuyishan Mountains

Abstract
The species diversity in Castanopsis fargesii natural forest community in Wuyishan Mountains was studied, the results showed that in this community, the Shannon-Wiener index and the Plelou evenness were high,amounting to 3.4387, and 0.6863 respectively; the shrub layer,larbor layer and liana layer′s Shannon- Wiener index and the Plelou evenness were high,too,amounting to 3.7983,2.7751, 2.3357,and 0.8619, 0.8241, 0.7169 respectively. Owing to the superior number of the individuals of some dominant species, the diversity and evenness of the herbaceous layer were low, amounting to 0.673 3 and 0.2710 respectively.
