Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical practicability of two methods with cefoxitin disk diffusion in MH disk and oxacillin salt agar disk for the detection of methicillin-resistant Slaphylococcus aureus(MRSA).Methods 89 clinical strains of Staphylococcus aureus were detected with two methods. Results of cefoxitin disk diffusion method in MH and oxacillin salt agar disk were compared with the result of mecA gene by PCR.Results Method with cefoxitin disk diffusion in MH disk in detection of MRSA is better than oxacillin salt agar disk;and it is also highly consistent to the method detecting mecA gene by PCR.Conclusion Cefoxitin disk diffusion method is easy to carry out and can be used to screening and confirming MRSA.
