Abstract
Objective To optimize the extraction conditions for volatile oil from Rhizoma zingiberis. Methods Orthogonal design was adopted. The extraction rate of volatile oil from Rhizoma zingiberis was used as the index for optimizing of extraction process.Ultraviolet spectrophotometry was applied to detect the content of volatile oil. Results The optimal extraction conditions were as follows:adding 18-fold water into crude drugs of Rhizoma zingiberis, and distilling the misture for 4 h.Conclusions Higher extraction rate of Rhizoma zingiberis valatile oil can be achieved by this technique.
