Abstract
Objectives:To study the changes of plasma arginine vasopressin level in schizophrenia patients. Methods:Plasma AVP level was determined with radioimmunoassay in 38 schizophrenia patients and 22 normal controls. Results: Plasma AVP level was significantly decreased( t =9.59, P 0.01) in schizophrenia patients than normal controls. Patients not cured with clozapine 4 weeks later had lower AVP level than those who were cured( t =2.21, P 0.05). Conclusions: AVP level was depressed and clozapine might influence AVP metabolism in schizophrenia.
