The Influence of Zhuangzi's Thought on JIA Baoyu on the View of "Ming"

Abstract

The character Ming has three meanings in classic Chinese:(1)name,order;(2)life;(3)fate.No one can escape from it,and it has become a big problem for everybody.Zhuangzi had a brilliant opinion of Ming and JIA Baoyu in A Dream of Red Mansions also had a deep thought on it.In this essay,we will analyze the influence of Zhuangzi's thought on JIA Baoyu on the view of Ming in three points:(1)discarding name and order;(2)containing life;(3)transcending fate,so we can have a better understanding in the cultural relation between Zhuangzi and JIA Baoyu.
