A Study of Wang Meng's Literary Criticism

In the literary criticism of the new period, Meng has formed a conspicuous Wang Meng Phenomenon by virtue of his literary criticism of up to two million words. Wang's literary criticism results from combining the artistic feeling of an artist and the rational thought of a critic. For one thing, Meng is possessed of an open concept of centering on man's literature and containing society, culture and life. For another, Meng's literary criticism has exhibited not only a distinctive awareness of issues but also a kind of sensitive and unique ability for artistic perception. Moreover, Meng has tried employing various patterns of literary criticism and constituted an individualistic discourse style of criticism in the long process of his literary criticism practice.
