Abstract
Objective To evaluate the preventive effects of radiotherapy plus zengyetang on radiation pneumonitis. Methods Total 120 patients with non-small cell lung cancer were randomized into two groups: A group(n=60) treated with radiation, and B group(n=60) treated with radiotherapy plus zengyetang. Results The incidences of radiation pneumonitis in A and B groups were 51.7% and 43.9%, respectively (P0.05). Grades of radiation pneumonitis in A group were significantly higher than in B group at different time points(P0.05). Conclusion Combination of radiotherapy and zengyetang could decrease the grade of radiation pneumonitis in treating type Ⅲ of non-small cell lung cancer.
