Abstract

Two ternary complexes of Sm3+ and Dy3+ with 2,2′-bipyridine 2-thiophene carboxylic acid(L)-have been synthesized.By using the elemental analysis, the rare earth coordination titration, the molar conductivity and TG-DTG studies, the composition of the complexes was suggested as REL3L′·C2H5OH(RE=Sm,Dy,L=2-thiophene carboxylic acid,L′=2,2′-bipyridine).The molar conductivities in DMF solvent indicated that the complexes were non-electrolyte.The coordination compounds were characterized by IR spectrometry. The IR spectra studies indicated that 2-thiophene carboxylic acid was bonded with RE(Ⅲ) through oxygen atoms in carboxyl group, while 2,2′-bipyridine ligand was bonded to RE(Ⅲ) through two nitrogen atoms. And Dy3+ternary complexes were studied by the fluorescence excitation and emission spectrometry.
