Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy for chronic dacryocystitis. Methods:Sixty chronic dacryocystitis patients, who were admitted to our hospital during January 2007-January 2010,were randomly divided into endoscopic group and traditional group.Surgical outcomes of these 2 groups were observed and compared. Results:Follow up which was conducted on all patients for 12 months showed that the total effective rate of the endoscopic group and the conventional group 12 months after the treatment was 90.00% and 93.33%,respectively,showing no significant difference between them(P 0.05);however,the satisfactory rate of the endoscopic group was significant higher than that of the conventional group(96.67% vs 70%,P0.05).Conclusion:Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy is not only effective, but also meet patients' psychological need for beauty and is worth for application in large scale.
