Abstract
With the method of ditching,affection of dwarfing apple trees in different planting patterns on root system distribution, fresh weight and dry weight of shoots,stems,leaves and fruits was studied. It is proved that both interstock exposed and half buried could cause over 90% of root system distributing into 0~40 cm soil layer, and mainly concentrating in 20~40 cm deep, taking 59% and 55% of the total root weight respectively. The moisture distributed around the trunk. and mainly concentrated less 60cm area between interstock exposed,while less 80 cm interstock half buried. There was no obvious difference in the row spacing.The fresh weight and dry weight of interstock half buried area were 1.34 times and 1.78 times the weight of the interstock exposed respectively,compared the dry weight of shoots,stems,leaves and fruits with interstock half buried and interstock exposed, the former is 2.4 tmies, 2.3 times and 2 times the weight of latter, the comparistion of fruit yield was that the interstock half buried increased 28.5% than those exposed.
