Abstract
Objective To study the applied anatomy of the cisternal segment of oculomotor nerve and its clinical significance. Method The cisternal setments of oculomotor nerves, the struuctue adjacent to them and the blood supply for them were observed in 10 adult cadaveric heads in which the cerebral arteries were instilled. Results The cisternal segment of the oculomotor nerve abutted on the posterior cerebral artery, superior cerebellar artery, collicular artery, accessary collicular artery, etc.. Ninety percent of the mesen-cephalic perforating arteries gave off nutrient vessels to the cisternal segment of the oculomotor nerve. Conclusion The trauma, tumors, AVMs and operations may induce injury of the oculomotor nerve because the relationship between it and the structure surrounding it is complicated and the nutrient vessels are tiny.[
