Abstract
According to general practice in international literature metrology research, a paper is classified based on region and work unit of the first author. Through the statistic analysis of the authors of the natural science papers in China in 2003, people can know the status quo and equipment condition of scientific research group in China. The contents of study included their subject distribution, organization distribution, region distribution, and authors distribution of high yield and deep influence, The results showed that the author's subject distribution isn't well-proportioned, and the high yield authors, the authors of international papers especially, went into studying chiefly on chemistry, physics and math, and that the region distribution is asymmetric, and 2/3 of the high yield authors were in colleges or universities, and even the proportion of authors in northwest area which concluded 13 provinces was lower than 20%, whatever international or national papers.
