MEASUREMENT OF VASCULAR ENDOTHLIAL GROWTH FACTOR AND INTERLEUKIN-8 LEVELS IN PERITONEAL FLUID OF PATIENTS WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS

Objective:To investigate the role of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and interleukin-8(IL-8) in peritoneal fluid on pathogenesis of endometriosis(EMT).Methods:VEGF and IL-8 contents in peritoneal fluid of 25 cases with EMT (study group) were detected by enzyme linked immunoabsorbent assay(ELISA) and compared with the counterparts of 15 cases without EMT(control group).The correlation analyses between VEGF and IL-8 concentration in peritoneal fluid of EMT patients were performed and compared with the severity of R-AFS score.Result:The peritoneal fluid form patients with endometriosis contained significantly greater amounts of VEGF (194±45pg/ml) and IL-8(1 9±0 53ng/ml) than controls(160±50pg/ml and 1 3±0 4ng/ml,respectively,P0 05;P0 01).There was no correlation between R-AFS scores and VEGF or IL-8 levels. There was no correlation between levels of VEGF and IL-8 in peritoneal fluid.Conclusion:Unusual levels of VEGF and IL-8 in peritoneal fluid of EMT patients may be the possible or part reason to change the microenvironment of the peritoneal cavity.
