Abstract

Epoxy/montmorillonite nanocomposites were prepared by melt intercalation method.XRD spectrum showed that modification made the montmorillonite layer spacing greater and resulted in a better exfoliation compared with unmodified epoxy resin.For example the epoxy/montmorillonite nanocomposites possessed higher mechanical and thermal properties and its tensile strength increased 70.8%,non-notched impact strength increased 64.5%, and the heat distortion temperature increased 17.7 .
