Abstract

The effect of an arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) fungus,Glomus versiforme,on nutrient uptake in leaves of trifoliate orange [Poncirus trifoliata(L.) Raf.] seedlings was investigated in pot experiments under well-watered and water stress conditions.Mycorrhizal colonization was higher under well-watered conditions than that under water stress conditions. The contents of P,K,and Ca were higher in mycorrhizal seedlings than in non-mycorrhizal seedlings under both well-watered and water stress conditions, and mycorrhizal contribution was higher to seedling under water stress than under well-watered conditions.AM infection did not affect the contents of N,Mg,and Cu in leaves regardless of water status. When compared to non-AM fungal treatment,AM fungal treatment only significantly enhanced the contents of Fe and Zn in leaves under water stress conditions. It appeared that AM fungal inoculation decreased the content of Mn in leaves, and the difference were significant under well-watered conditions.
