Abstract

Objective To investigate the role of MMP 9 in the invasion and metastasis of the hepatocellular cancer. Methods RNA was extracted in 41 surgical specimens of HCC and reverse transcript polymerase chain reaction(RT PCR) was carried out for detection of MMP 9 expression. Results MMP 9 was expressed positively in 70.7% of hepatocellular carcinoma tissues,48.9% of paracacinoma 1 cm and 41.5% of paracarcinoma 5 cm tissues. The expression level of MMP 9 in tumor tissues was obviously higher than that in the tissues of paracacinoma 5 cm( P 0.01),but was not higher than that in the tissues of paracacinorma 1 cm.The expression of MMP 9 were significantly correlated to recurrence and pv emboli and poor encapsulated( P 0.05).Conclusion The expression of MMP 9 correlates closely to the recurrence or metastasis of HCC.High expression levels of MMP 9 may be as a predictor for poor prognosis of HCC.
