A Review on Item Response Theory:The Rationale of Computerized Adaptive Testing and Cognitive Diagnosis

Abstract

Item Response Theory(IRT)developed by overcoming the limitations of Classical Test Theory(CTT),under the assumption of unidimensionality,local independence and monotonicity,IRT become more advantageous.It takes the Latent Trait Theory(LTT)as the foundation,uses its supposition of Item Characteristic Curve(ICC)to model,has three basical models :Two-parameter normal ogive Model、Rasch Model and Logistic Model.In this paper,the authors proposed the practical application of the substantial progress achieved in two areas: computerized adaptive testing and cognitive diagnosis theory.
